About Hunter J. Haselrig

Hunter J. Haselrig is a founder, entrepreneur, investor, filmmaker, and philanthropist building businesses and institutions across media, education, economic development, and civic infrastructure. His work is guided by curiosity, long term thinking, and a focus on creating lasting value.

I build companies, align creativity with capital, and drive community impact.

I am a founder, entrepreneur, investor, filmmaker, and philanthropist focused on building businesses and institutions that create lasting value. My work spans media, education, economic development, philanthropy, and civic infrastructure, connected by a curiosity driven approach, long term thinking, and a genuine enjoyment of creating from the ground up.

I build across sectors because I believe the most resilient businesses and institutions are formed at the intersection of creativity, culture, and commerce. Strong ecosystems do not happen by accident. They are designed patiently and intentionally, with an understanding that trust, infrastructure, and relationships are just as important as innovation itself. As a founder and venture builder, I think in systems rather than isolated projects. I build platforms that allow multiple businesses, media ventures, educational initiatives, and philanthropic efforts to operate together within a shared framework. When the foundation is strong, new ideas can launch faster, scale more intelligently, and benefit from shared experience rather than starting from scratch. This approach allows learning, capital, and credibility to compound across the ecosystem over time.

At the center of my work is Positive Space Media, which I founded as both a creative engine and an operating platform. Through it, I develop and support ventures across media, education, and economic development, including multiple newsroom operations embedded on HBCU campuses. These newsrooms train student journalists, strengthen local information ecosystems, and support sustainable models for community centered media. This work sits at the intersection of media, education, workforce development, and civic infrastructure, reflecting my belief that strong communities require strong information systems. Alongside Positive Space Media, I have built complementary organizations that extend this ecosystem. 1210 Marketing Group serves as a creative and strategic partner for brands, institutions, and public sector clients. Gold Circle Foods explores consumer products and operational scale through a brand focused approach. The Positive Space Foundation functions as my philanthropic platform, advancing inclusive investment in people, places, and partnerships. While each venture has a distinct mission, they share a common philosophy centered on long term ownership, thoughtful growth, and meaningful impact.

As an investor, I focus on place based and community centered economic development, working at the intersection of private enterprise, public institutions, education systems, and philanthropy to design initiatives that strengthen local economies and expand opportunity. My investment philosophy prioritizes infrastructure, alignment, and sustainability. Storytelling has shaped my work from the beginning. I am a filmmaker and documentarian, deeply engaged in photography, film, and music. I view storytelling as a form of infrastructure that shapes culture and influences what people believe is possible. This perspective informs how I approach media, education, branding, and investment alike. I take a hands on and collaborative approach to building, valuing substance, long term thinking, and shared responsibility.

Outside of business, you can usually find me riding my bike, running a few miles, spending time at the skatepark, or unwinding with music and a favorite film.
